Cooper Charles Smith

SMITH, Cooper Charles. With a broken heart, we farewell our big army boy Cooper, who passed away surrounded by family in ICU Christchurch Hospital, on Saturday, 16 May, 2026. He was only 4 1/2 years old. Much loved son of Jonny, grandson of Rana and Colin, brother of Bella and Ella, cousin of Izzy, Hugo, Roland, and beloved nephew of Elizabeth and Charles. The family would like to thank the staff at CHOC, Child Cancer Foundation, and the Occupational Therapists for all the support and care you’ve given Cooper during his battle with leukaemia. We would also like to acknowledge the teams in ICU Christchurch Hospital, Ronald McDonald House, and the teachers at Burnham Kidsfirst. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Child Cancer Foundation would be appreciated and may be made via https://childcancer.org.nz/donate. The Funeral Service for Cooper will be held in Academy Funeral Services Chapel, 65 Main South Road, Sockburn, Christchurch, Tomorrow (Thursday), at 12 noon.
