Funeral Prepayment
Funeral prepayment plan
Plan the funeral you want without worrying about the financial burden on your family
Should I prepay for my funeral?
The decision to prepay for a funeral or not ultimately lies with you – and there really is no right or wrong answer. Still, if you do decide to go ahead with a funeral prepayment plan, here are a few of the benefits.
Peace of mind for your family
Paying for your funeral in advance means your loved ones won’t have to worry about unexpected costs during a difficult time. It’s a thoughtful way to ease their burden and give yourself peace of mind.
Protect your pension
But how? Prepaid funerals up to $10,000 are excluded from asset testing when assessing eligibility for residential care subsidies.
Easy process
The FDANZ Funeral Trust is not an insurance policy. You won't have to answer personal questions or take any health checks. It's a simple way to pay in advance and make funeral planning less stressful.
How funeral prepayments work
People often think prepaying for a funeral is complicated, but it’s actually really straightforward. Here’s how it works in just 3 easy steps.
1.
Book a meeting with us
Get in touch to set up a convenient time to discuss your funeral plans. We’re here to listen and guide you through the process, making it as relaxed as possible.
2.
Record your funeral wishes
We’ll work with you to record your wishes for the service and give you an estimate of the costs. That way, you can decide what feels right for you without any surprises. Keep in mind: estimates may change over time due to inflation.
3.
Secure your prepayments
Your prepayment will be safely held in The Funeral Trust, managed by the Funeral Directors Association of New Zealand. This gives you peace of mind knowing your funds are protected and available when needed.
