The Academy Funerals Services story so far…

For over 40 years, we’ve helped hundreds of Christchurch families lay their loved ones to rest with dignity, care, and compassion.

Since 1985, our inclusive funeral home has been based on Main South Road, Sockburn, Christchurch in a building that once served as a church – still holding that same sense of peace and comfort today.

Families from all walks of life, beliefs, and cultures have trusted us to guide them through some of their most difficult moments. Our space is non-denominational and welcoming to everyone – a place where each and every family can be seen, heard, and respected.

Our small but dedicated team is the heart of what we do. Each member has been chosen for their empathy, expertise, and experience.

Together, we carry on the legacy of our founders, Peter Lawrence and Geoffrey Hall, who prioritised thought.

Academy Funerals is honoured to be an integral part of the Christchurch community, helping start many important conversations around death and grief.

And we’re incredibly proud to be the first funeral company recognised as Canterbury Trusted. This award, given by Business Canterbury, reflects our ongoing commitment to care, trust, and the highest standards of service.
